A Thousand Shared Sponges
A lover who's always so grand,
With a fistful of stars in their hand,
Was the life that I sought,
That the movies had taught,
In this boring, predictable land.
We don't climb a high, jagged peak,
Or speak of our love with a shriek,
But we wash all the plates,
And we're good for our dates,
And we whisper and talk all the week.
My partner, a sly, steady soul,
Said "Our love is the sum of the whole,
Not a high, sudden flash,
Or a passionate dash,
But a gradual, gentle, deep roll."
So I've found what's so boring and plain,
Is a comfort that outlasts the rain,
The slow, steady beat,
Makes the love so complete,
Just the two of us, through joy and through pain.
