Entitled Power

In lands of promise, leaders rise,
Their names in bold, beneath the skies.
A fervent claim, a power's thrust,
Yet wisdom's spark begins to rust.
Against the native lands they pressed,
A trail of tears, a nation's test.
With walls of stone, division brewed,
The power wielded, hopes subdued.
In halls of trust, the loyal thrive,
Their posts assured, as spoils arrive.
Yet merit's call, a whisper faint,
For power reigns, with no constraint.
The banks of gold, they battled fierce,
To shift the tides, their foes to pierce.
Economies reshaped, the storms they sown,
In power's grip, their seeds were blown.
From Jackson's time to futures cast,
The echoes of their shadows last.
A title's might, the fleeting hour,
For wisdom falters, lost in power.
